8 Yr Old Autistic Boy Not Allowed to Read Bible during Free Time at School

Posted 18 hours ago by Dave Jolly Filed under 1st Amendment, Christianity, Constitution, Education, Email Featured, Liberal Bullying,

You would think that educators are capable of learning on their own or even being able to be taught something, but evidently there are a lot of them out there that aren’t educatable.

It seems that nearly every week or two there is another news report about a teacher that violates the constitutional rights of their students. Only after lawyers get involved do the teachers and school administrators find out they were wrong and have to apologize or make amends for their wrong doing.

We’ve heard of teachers telling female students to take their shirts off in class because the teacher didn’t like the student’s political views on the shirts. We’re heard of teachers failing student’s reports because they wrote about God. We’ve heard of teachers throwing gifts for other students in the trash because they mentioned Jesus. We’ve heard of more teacher abuses of students involving religion, politics and guns.

And in all of these cases, the teachers were wrong and violating the constitutional rights of the students. Hopefully, teachers at Highview Elementary School in Dearborn Heights will also learn the same lesson as the others have.

Jessica Cross has an eight year old son and six year old daughter that attend Highview Elementary and she’s not happy with what’s been happening. Her son is autistic and anyone who has been around an autistic child knows just how fragile they can be concerning certain things. Some will retreat so far back into themselves that it’s almost impossible to reach them.

One of her son’s favorite things to do is to sit and read his Bible. He takes his Bible to school and reads it during his free time, that is until recently. Cross found out that a teacher told her son that he wasn’t allowed to read his Bible at school. Her son was actually told that his Bible was ‘for church, not for school.’

That was upsetting enough for Cross but then to add to the situation, she says the school has been excessively placing her son in timeout and denying him lunch. Then she discovered that her six year old’s worksheet is talking about dad drinking wine. The statement on the worksheet said:

“My dad drinks wine. He puts a lime in his wine. It makes my mom smile.”

What in the world is that doing on a worksheet for a 6 year old? Is the school promoting drinking alcohol to 6 year olds? That’s what Cross was wondering also. She went to the school to complain about what’s happened to both of her kids. The school ended up apologizing for the worksheet, but I couldn’t find anything to say that they were going to prevent it from happening again. As for Cross’s autistic son, the principal said that he was allowed to bring his Bible to school and read it on his free time.

I hope the teacher who banned the Bible is forced to apologize to Cross and her son and made to undergo training on the constitutional rights of students and then has to pass a proficiency test in order to continue to teach. In fact, I think that should be mandated for all teachers throughout the country since so many of them are obviously ignorant of the rights of students.

I also hope that parents take this as a lesson for them in that it’s important for parents to be involved with their kids’ school work and see what they are being taught.

Johansson dumps Oxfam instead of SodaStream

Scarlett Johansson announced on Thursday that instead of caving in to pressure from anti-Israel activists and discontinue her endorsement of the Israeli company Sodastream, she is resigning from her position as global ambassador for the charity Oxfam, which is virulently opposed to West Bank settlements including Ma'aleh Adumim, which houses a sodastream factory. "I remain a supporter of economic cooperation and social interaction between a democratic Israel and Palestine," Johannson said. "SodaStream is a company that is not only committed to the environment but to building a bridge to peace between Israel and Palestine, supporting neighbors working alongside each other, receiving equal pay, equal benefits and equal rights. That is what is happening in their Ma'aleh Adumim factory every working day."

A closer look at the IDF's field hospital for Syrian victims

Despite the fact that Israel and Syria are officially still at war, the IDF has treated hundreds of civil war victims, following ethical code.

Col. Tariff Bader, the senior medical officer of the IDF's Northern Command, shared stories from inside the field hospital treating Syrian refugees in an interview published on the IDF blog on Tuesday.

The hospital on the in the Golan Heights' border with Syria was set up by the IDF last year to treat an increasing flow of wounded Syrian civilians. Many of these refugees are in such bad condition that they might not have time to be transferred to a civilian hospital for treatment.

“When we realized we would be receiving many patients, we decided to build a field hospital so that we could treat people with serious injuries who require immediate care,” Col. Bader was quoted as saying. “The ethical code of the IDF Medical Corps clearly states that soldiers must assist anyone who is sick or wounded – whether they are associated with the enemy or not.”

The field hospital includes surgery, radiology and orthopedic units. The IDF Medical Corps cooperates with Israeli civilian medical services for very serious cases.

Soldiers often risk their lives to treat Syrian victims, as the location of the hospital makes it a potential target for either side of the Syrian conflict, the blog said. Mortar fire has wounded IDF soldiers in the area in the past.

In order to protect the patients, whose time in Israel may put their lives in added danger upon return to Syria, "the IDF takes painstaking measures to remove any indication that they received care in Israel," the blog said.

While the first Syrians who approached Israel for medical care were reportedly rebel fighters, there has been an increasing amount of women and children seeking care.

"The injuries of children leave the greatest impact on me," Col. Bader said in the IDF blog. "I remember a girl whose femur was completely shattered. Had our forces not been there to help her, she would have died or been disabled for the rest of her life. I am honored to do this work, both as a physician and a citizen of Israel."

In an attempt to ease the immense psychological trauma many patients have suffered, clowns visit the field hospital on a regular basis, particularly to entertain the children and put a smile on their faces.

A total of over 500 Syrians have received treatment in Israel, with 40 percent being treated at the field hospital, according to an IDF Spokesperson. Ziv Medical Center in Safed has been the main site for civilian medical treatment, with at least 200 Syrian patients over the last year.

Over the last three years the Syrian conflict has claimed the lives of at least 100,000 civilians, according to the United Nations.

Real Love

Real Love

God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him.

This is real love - not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.

No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and His love is brought to full expression in us.
1 John 4:9-12

What if we loved like Jesus?
What if we loved like Jesus?

Based on how much I say it, "love" must be one of my favorite words.

It punctuates every phone conversation I have with my children and it's how I tell my husband good-night. It's what I say when I want your shoes, see a puppy in the window, order dessert. It's what I tell my hair dresser when she's touched up my hair, the way I describe living in Germany, and how I'll review a very good book.

"I Love...!" expresses my affections for something that matters to me, a little phrase that can mean a thousand things. Never, however, is love more dynamic, strong, expressive or beautiful than when we hear it spoken by God. God didn't merely feel love for His children, He demonstrated love by His actions.
He gave His Son.
He sacrificed Himself.
He bled my redemption.
He poured out forgiveness.
He taught me how to love by example.
He empowered me to love others.
And generously, lavishly, unconditionally,
God loved me first and acted on it.

Can you imagine the change in the world if we loved like Jesus?
Not just lip service, really loved like Jesus?
What if we actually loved our enemies?
What if we loved the difficult people in our lives?
What if we considered anyone outside our door, our neighbor, and loved them consistent with how we love ourselves?
What if we begin with just one person?
Today.

God, The Healer of Broken Hearts
God, The Healer of Broken Hearts

To the saddened heart,
He pours out the oil of gladness;
To the discouraged heart,
He brings a song of hope;
To the lonely heart,
He comes with the nearness of His presence;
To the disappointed heart,
He speaks a promise of better things;
To the drifting heart,
He secures the anchor of His steadfast love;
To the wounded heart,
He applies the healing ointment of His grace;
To the soiled heart,
He washes with the rivers of His mercies;
To the troubled heart,
He soothes with the quiet strength of His peace.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows]. Psalm 147:3 AMP
