The Christ at the Checkpoint conference now taking place in Bethlehem bills itself as an “authentic” voice of local Christians. That may be, but it is by no means the exclusive voice of local Christians. The following is a response to Christ at the Checkpoint conference by Shadi Khalloul, chairman of the Aramaic Christian Association in Israel, spokesman for the Christian IDF Forum and a representative of those Arabic-speaking Christians who have chosen to embrace Israel, rather than fight against it.

A growing number of Israeli Christians have been speaking out with a new voice and calling for integration into Israeli Jewish society. At the same time, many of us are asking for a halt to the cynical use of local Christians as pawns in the Palestinian cause or other Arab efforts to destroy Israel as a democratic Jewish state.

Like the majority of Israeli Christians, I feel that many Church leaders are betraying the Christian message and ignoring the rights of fellow Christians in the Holy Land in service to Islamic propaganda against our country, Israel.

To see Christian leaders participating in anti-Israel political conferences like “Christ at the Checkpoint” makes me feel like vomiting. I am ashamed of the duplicity of these leaders. In Israel, these Christians enjoy full rights and freedoms, even the freedom to publicly slander the state without fear. By contrast, they and their families would quickly be killed for so publicly criticizing the Palestinian Authority.

Our situation in Israel is better than any other Christian community in the entire Middle East. As we have witnessed of late, many Christians across the region have been migrating or converting to Islam by force.

What worries us as Israeli Christians is seeing fellow Christian continue in their fearful approach to the Arabs by joining with those who routinely abuse and kill our own people in order to falsely accuse Israel, the only country in the region where Christians are actually protected.

Israel will continue to be the everlasting home and safe haven of the Jews, and also of its Christian, Druze and even Arab minorities. The world needs to know these facts and to understand that the people who would cynically put Christ at the checkpoint do not represent the real Christian voice in this region, or anywhere else in the world.

We all long for peace in the Holy Land, but not a peace based on lies that can only lead to trouble for local Christians.

U.S., U.K., Netherlands fund anti-Israel ‘Christ at the Checkpoint’ conference

The U.S., U.K., and Dutch governments are helping to fund a conference called “Christ at the Checkpoint,” which attempts to sway Evangelical Christian opinion against Israel and whose themes have anti-Semitic undertones, according to a new report issued by the Jerusalem-based watchdog group NGO Monitor. We're not alone out there. We in Christians United for Israel are not the only Christians who are weighing in on the Arab-Israeli conflict. Increasingly, anti-Israel Christians are raising their voices and flexing their muscles.

This week, for example, the third Christ at the Checkpoint conference is being held at the Bethlehem Bible College in Bethlehem. Christians from around the world have gathered at Jesus' birthplace for five days of anti-Israel lectures, films and tours. Most of the speakers are blaming the Arab-Israeli conflict on Israel and Israel alone. They condemn Israel's "occupation" without ever mentioning Israel's repeated sacrifices for peace. As missiles rain down on southern Israel, they bemoan the "horrors" of Israeli checkpoints without ever once mentioning the Palestinian terror that necessitates them. And many are reviving replacement theology -- that idea that God has rejected the Jewish people and broken His covenants with them.

The fact that so many Christians are so actively working to undermine Israel should be a wake up call to all of us. We need to redouble our efforts! The enemies of Israel are no longer overseas or even outside of our church walls. They are right here at home, in our communities and even in our churches.

We who support Israel need not fear. We have the truth on our side. But if we don't teach the truth and speak the truth, we can be drowned out by the lies. Now is not a time for despair. Now is a time for action.

Norwegian Cruise Line cancels stops in Tunis

Norwegian Cruise Line issued a statement Tuesday that it will not, for the foreseeable future, be sending its Mediterranean cruise ships to dock in the North African city of Tunis, following an incident last week in which port officials declared that Israeli passengers on a NCL ship were not welcome to disembark. "We want to send a strong message to Tunisia and ports around the world that we will not tolerate such random acts of discrimination against our guests," Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Kevin Sheehan said. "We are outraged by this act and the fact that we were not notified in advance of this practice. We apologize sincerely to our guests who were affected and want them to know that we have taken the appropriate action in response."

It is no secret that much of the Israeli Messianic community was wary of some of their number not only attending, but accepting invitations to speak at the Christ at the Checkpoint currently taking place in Bethlehem.

Most in the Messianic community view Christ at the Checkpoint as a platform for thinly-veiled Replacement Theology and anti-Israel propaganda, and feared those Messianic leaders who were scheduled to speak there would fall into the trap of appeasing their hosts.

Now that both Messianic leaders who were scheduled to speak from the main podium - Dan Juster and Oded Shoshani - have done so, how did they do?

Firstly, readers should head over to the Christ at the Checkpoint video site and watch the recorded speeches for themselves: Click Here

For those wanting some more commentary on the talks delivered by Juster and Shoshani, our friends at the Rosh Pina Project have posted “performance reviews.”

First up was Dan Juster, who most in the local Messianic community hold in highest respect as an authoritative Bible teacher. In summary, Juster did begin to challenge the problem of Palestinian Christians allowing the emotions of their situation to drive their theology, but he seemed to back off that point and ultimately adopt a more conciliatory position that painted a somewhat grim portrait of Zionism and the modern rebirth of Israel.

Shoshani, by contrast, really brought the heat, directly challenging many faulty points in both the theology and the political assertions of Christ at the Checkpoint. As 2012 Christ at the Checkpoint speaker Wayne Hilsden later commented, “I commend my friend and ministry colleague, Oded Shoshani, for sharing glaring truth with amazing grace…he is a man of peace and demonstrates love not only for fellow Jews, but for Arabs as well. Oded expressed his convictions biblically and from personal experience on the ground — fearing God and not man.”

How do you feel these two men did stepping into what many viewed as a hostile environment to present a position that they knew would not be well received?

God's Solution for Life's Problems

God's Solution for Life's Problems

Look through the problem, not at the problem. Problems are the opportunities for God to show His power. The bigger the problem, the greater the revelation of God.

Surrender every negative to God's eternal power. Set your heart, no matter what, to walk in the grace of God's solution. God is patient with us. He is right even when we are puzzled. Rest assured that in the end, we will find Him faithful and good.

Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:1-2

God Is So Good
God Is So Good

On February 19th of this year, Don Leetch, one of the founders of DaySpring Cards, finished his earthly race, crossed the finish line, and is now present with the Lord.

Don was a man of faith and a man of God who lived well and finished well. Don never had a blog or wrote a book, yet his life was a living epistle for good. He was a flame for Jesus' glory that brightened the lives of those who knew him.

I knew Don for over 45 years. He was my co-worker, pastor, mentor, and dear friend. In honor of Don's life and witness these three postings in Meet Me in the Meadow are written by him. They are taken from his personal journals and memos. It is my prayer that each posting will help you see deeper into the heart of a man who lived under the banner of knowing and believing that "God is so good!"

Jordanian boy has successful kidney transplant in Israel

After suffering critical kidney failure, 7-year-old boy receives his mother's kidney at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa • Doctors say boy is recovering well • Complicated procedure was not possible in Jordanian hospitals.

Daniel Siryoti

While the Jordanian street has expressed a great deal of animosity toward Israel recently [ADD LINK: http://www.israelhayom.com/site/newslet ... p?id=16049], there are also stories that occasionally inspire optimism.

Last week, a 7-year-old Palestinian-Jordanian boy who had suffered critical kidney failure underwent a successful kidney transplant at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. His mother was the donor. The complicated procedure was not possible in Jordanian hospitals.

The boy's parents chose to have the operation at Rambam, issuing their request through Civil Administration Health Services Coordinator, Dalia Bessa, who expedited all the relevant authorizations.

The boy, currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit for children at Rambam, is recovering well, according to his doctors. Two days after the surgery, there were no signs of rejection of the new kidney, and he had a healthy appetite. His mother had visited him.

"We direct many patients from Jordan and the Palestinian Authority to Rambam and other hospitals as well," Bessa said. "In the past year alone, I coordinated the arrival of 600 patients from the PA to Rambam."
